The beaches are uncrowded, lodging is cheaper and, for one day, oysters are being roasted outdoors in the Outer Banks.

Take an off-season trip to North Carolina for the Hatteras Island Oyster Roast on Saturday, Feb. 1.

A fire will warm visitors feasting on fresh oysters, seafood chowder, corn bread and homemade desserts at Oden’s Dock, reports The Outer Banks Voice.

The event runs from 1 to 4 p.m. and features live local music. The proceeds will benefit the North Carolina Coastal Federation’s oyster education and restoration programs, according to the Voice.

The Outer Banks Visitors Bureau is a sponsor of event and tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door, the Voice reports.

Tickets includes as many steamed oysters as you can eat, one serving of chowder, corn bread and a nonalcoholic beverage, according to the Voice. The roast is a rain-or-shine, outdoor event so dress appropriately.
