A man was killed and another injured in a crash early Monday on the Parkway North in Ross.

State police said David P. Rennebeck, 67, of Pittsburgh, died from injuries suffered in a two-car crash in the northbound lanes of Interstate 279.

Rennebeck had been driving a car that struck an unoccupied car sitting partially in the right lane of the highway near mile marker 7.4, police said.

Police said Rennebeck’s car then hit a tree and finally came to rest more than 200 feet away. Rennebeck was trapped in the driver’s seat and had to be cut from the vehicle by Ross West View Emergency Medical Services. He died several hours later at Allegheny General Hospital on Pittsburgh’s North Side, police said.

Rennebeck’s passenger was treated at Allegheny General for an unknown injury.

Police said the driver of the car that Rennebeck struck, identified as Lenny M. Dunnivan, 29, had hit a guard wire and traveled across two lanes of traffic before the car came to rest. Dunnivan was not charged with a crime as of late Tuesday morning.
