2 arrested in fatal Downtown Pittsburgh shooting

Tribune-Review

Two men were arrested Thursday in connection with the fatal shooting of a man in Downtown Pittsburgh earlier in the day, according to Pittsburgh police.

Taylor Wible, 21, of Pittsburgh was charged by police with criminal homicide and carrying a firearm, while Ela N. Aydin, 18, of Oakdale, was charged with hindering apprehension, police said. Both suspects were placed in the Allegheny County Jail.

The victim was identified as Terrance Lamar Coates, 30, of Pittsburgh.

Wible is accused of shooting Coates in the chest in an alley off of Fort Duquesne Boulevard, between Sixth and Seventh streets, shortly after 1 p.m. , according to Public Safety spokeswoman Cara Cruz.

Police used gauze to pack the victim’s wound and administered first aid until paramedics arrived, Cruz said. The victim, who was taken to an area hospital, was pronounced dead several hours later.

A short time after the shooting, Cruz said, police stopped a vehicle on the city’s South Side and took two individuals in for questioning.
