One person died in a fire at a mobile home early Monday in North Fayette.

The fire broke out shortly after 12:30 a.m. in the 200 block of Valley View Drive, authorities said.

Firefighters reported seeing heavy smoke and flames coming from the building when they arrived on scene and entered the mobile home where a man was trapped inside, according to authorities.

Shortly after 1 p.m., firefighters were ordered out of the building because it was in danger of collapsing, emergency dispatchers said. The Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office was called to the scene.

Tribune-Review news partner WPXI-TV reported that the victim was a middle-aged man and his two dogs also perished in the fire.

The home suffered heavy damage from the blaze. A county fire marshal was called to the scene to investigate the cause.

Crews continued to work to extinguish the flames to prevent them from spreading but several nearby mobile homes also suffered minor damage, according to WPXI.
