One man is dead and a second man and a woman were hospitalized Thursday night after an altercation in Versailles Borough that started at one residence and spilled over to the adjacent home.

Police said a suspect was arrested only after he fled the scene. He was apprehended in McKeesport but fought with police while in custody.

One officer required hospital treatment and a police dog was injured, requiring treatment at a veterinarian’s office.

Allegheny County Police said in a release that Versailles police were dispatched to a duplex in the 400 block of Worthington Street just after 8 p.m.

First responders discovered Vincent Bazzone, 38, of Versailles on the porch with multiple stab wounds. He died at the scene.

First responders then went to the adjacent residence and discovered another man who had been stabbed. Police said a woman there had been assaulted.

Both were taken to an area hospital in stable condition.

Allegheny County Police detectives say their preliminary information shows Bazzone and a third man were involved in an altercation that led up to the initial, fatal stabbing.

That man, who was not immediately identified, then entered the residence next door “and engaged in a second altercation with the two additional victims resulting in a second male being stabbed, and a female assaulted,” county police said.

He then fled the scene in a vehicle.

Through witness interviews, officers got a description of the suspect and his vehicle. McKeesport police located it a short time later and took the suspect into custody.

While in custody at the McKeesport Police Department, the suspect fought with officers, county police said.

One McKeesport officer was injured and taken to the hospital for treatment. A police dog also was injured.

Officers were able to subdue the suspect, and he also was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Anyone with information concerning this incident is asked to call the County Police Tip Line at 833-255-8477. Callers can remain anonymous.
