1 person killed after being hit by train in Pittsburgh's Elliot neighborhood

Authorities are investigating after a person was struck and killed by a train early Monday morning in Pittsburgh.

According to Norfolk Southern, a northbound train struck a pedestrian who was walking on the tracks.

The incident occurred near the West Busway Entrance on West Carson Street in Pittsburgh’s Elliot neighborhood just after 2 a.m., said Pittsburgh Public Safety. The person hit was pronounced dead at the scene.

As of 12:15 p.m. Monday, the person killed was not identified.

No crew members were injured.

Norfolk Southern Police are investigating the incident.
