Firefighters battle a fire early Thursday morning in Duquesne City.

One person died following a fire early Tuesday morning that destroyed one home and damaged several others in Duquesne.

The fire started about 1:20 a.m. in the 130 block of North Third Street, according to TribLive news partner WTAE.

At least one other person was taken to the hospital to be treated for injuries, according to WTAE.

Two homes on the block were ruled a total loss, WTAE said. A third home had “significant water damage” and charring on its roof, and a fourth home was impacted by heat damage. All four were occupied at the time.

It’s unclear how the fire started. The Allegheny County Fire Marshal’s office is investigating.
