One woman was shot and another was stabbed in an altercation in Pittsburgh’s Brighton Heights neighborhood Saturday, according to Pittsburgh police.

Police said officers responded just before 2 p.m. to an alert of three shots being fired in the 1500 block of Antrim Street.

While heading there, responding officers were told that a woman who had been shot was found nearby in the 3200 block of Richardson Avenue.

The woman had been shot in the chest, police said. She was in critical condition when taken to a hospital.

A short time later, another woman arrived at Allegheny General Hospital in a private vehicle, police said. She had a stab wound to a leg.

Both women were immediately taken into surgery.

Police said they are believed to have been involved in an altercation that happened at the original crime scene before the shooting.

Police were continuing to investigate.
