A city of Pittsburgh work truck hit two pedestrians while backing up in the city’s Friendship neighborhood Sunday afternoon, according to Pittsburgh Public Safety.

The incident happened around 1:30 p.m. in the 5600 block of Baum Boulevard.

According to public safety, the work truck was clearing the roadway when it hit the pedestrians.

Neither pedestrian was associated with the Pittsburgh Marathon, but they were not otherwise identified or described. At the time of the collision, the route remained closed to regular traffic but runners had already passed through the area, public safety said.

Both pedestrians suffered minor injuries and were taken to a hospital in stable condition.

The driver remained on the scene and cooperated with officers, public safety said.

An investigation was ongoing.
