2 people shot, 3 detained following shooting in Pittsburgh neighborhoods
Pittsburgh police have detained three people following a double shooting in Pittsburgh’s Brighton Heights and Perry North neighborhoods Thursday night, Public Safety Spokesperson Maurice Matthews said.
Matthews said police responded to multiple Shotspotter alerts along Woods Run Avenue in Brighton Heights around 10:40 p.m.
Zone 1 officers observed evidence of a shooting and two nearby gunshot victims on the scene, Matthews said.
Police said the first victim was found in a home on the 900 block of Woods Run Avenue. Responding officers said a male had a gunshot wound to the back. Police said they provided aide until medics arrived, and the victim was transported to a local hospital in serious condition.
Police said a second victim was located in Perry North at the intersection of Woods Run and Maridale Avenue with a gunshot in the lower leg. Officers applied a tourniquet to the victim. Police said the victim was eventually taken to the hospital.
Matthews said a K9 was nipped on the leg and taken to the vet to be evaluated.
Three people were detained by officers at the scene, Matthews said.
The investigation is ongoing.
