Three juveniles were taken into custody early Tuesday after police say they were connected to an armed carjacking in Pittsburgh’s Fineview neighborhood.

Pittsburgh police said a vehicle was stolen in the 1700 block of Belleau Drive around 5 p.m. Monday. Just before 1:20 a.m. Tuesday, officers spotted the vehicle on South Side Avenue at Sunset Avenue. Officers said they began to follow it.

Police said three males eventually bailed out of the vehicle along Reekes Way. One of them was taken into custody while two others ran into a wooded area. Police caught up with the two who ran and they were taken into custody. Officials did not identify the three people.

Officers said the incident was not connected to a carjacking Monday night in Pittsburgh’s Knoxville neighborhood.

The investigation is ongoing.
