A 38-year-old man died at the Allegheny County Jail Saturday afternoon, Warden Trevor Wingard announced.

The man was not immediately identified. The jail has notified his family, Wingard’s announcement said.

According to Wingard, jail staff called a medical emergency at about 2:42 p.m. Health care staff responded and performed lifesaving measures until paramedics arrived.

The man was declared deceased at about 3:13 p.m.
