5 displaced by Greenfield fire
Investigators believe the fire that tore through a Greenfield home on Sunday started in the kitchen, authorities said.
Pittsburgh fire crews responded to a home on West Elizabeth Street just before 2 p.m., said Public Safety spokeswoman Cara Cruz.
Three of the five residents were outside in a vehicle when they noticed smoke coming from the home, Cruz said. The other two residents weren’t home at the time.
One firefighter was taken to the hospital in stable condition after experiencing chest pain, Cruz said.
Investigators are working to determine the exact cause of the fire but they believe it started in the kitchen.
The Red Cross was assisting the displaced residents.
