6 Pittsburgh schools reopen, 18 still closed over staff shortages

Six Pittsburgh Public Schools buildings reopened Thursday, while four others were closed for the day and 13 more will remain shut down until Tuesday because of staffing shortages caused by covid-19, district officials announced.

Schools reopening Thursday included Pittsburgh Arsenal 6-8, Pittsburgh Classical, Pittsburgh Grandview, Pittsburgh Miller, Pittsburgh Montessori and Pittsburgh Phillips.

The four schools closing for the day included Pittsburgh Arlington PreK-8, Pittsburgh Colfax PreK-8, Pittsburgh Faison PreK-5 and Pittsburgh South Brook 6-8. Grab and go lunches will not be available at Arlington.

Those closed until Jan. 18:

• Pittsburgh Carmalt PreK-8

• Pittsburgh Chartiers Early Childhood Center

• Pittsburgh Concord PreK-5

• Pittsburgh Conroy

• Pittsburgh Dilworth PreK-5

• Pittsburgh Langley PreK-8

• Pittsburgh Linden PreK-5

• Pittsburgh Oliver Citywide Academy

• Pittsburgh Pioneer

• Pittsburgh Student Achievement Center*

• Pittsburgh Spring Garden Early Childhood Center

• Pittsburgh Sunnyside PreK-8 *

The schools marked with an asterisk will not have grab-and-go lunches available.
