About 3,500 high-risk seniors will receive their second dose of the covid-19 vaccine at a vaccination clinic at PNC Park on Saturday.

Allegheny Health Network (AHN) hosted a clinic at on Feb. 20, during which 3,500 people in Phase 1A of the state’s covid-19 vaccine distribution plan received their first vaccine dose at PNC Park. Those people returned Saturday to receive their second dose of the two-dose vaccination.

Saturday’s clinic, held from 8 a.m. till 8 p.m. in PNC Park’s Home Plate Club, is open only to those who pre-registered. No walk-ins are accepted.

To date, AHN’s partnership with the Pittsburgh Pirates has allowed them to administer more than 15,000 vaccine doses at PNC Park.

Saturday’s clinic marks the 10th mass vaccination clinic across Western Pennsylvania. Other vaccination clinics have been held at the Monroeville Convention Center and Dick’s Sporting Goods’ corporate headquarters in Cranberry, among several other locations.

In addition to mass vaccination clinics, AHN hospitals and other facilities hold daily clinics.

In total, AHN has administered more than 140,000 vaccine doses.

AHN is prioritizing an equitable distribution of the limited vaccine doses it receives. At each of the network’s mass vaccination events — and through their hospital-based clinics — AHN works to schedule appropriate numbers of people who live in communities that rank high on the CDC Social Vulnerability Index and who have been hit hardest by the pandemic. That includes marginalized populations.

Because vaccine supplies are limited, AHN is holding appointment-only vaccination clinics.

As vaccine supply is available, eligible high-risk patients who have an AHN MyChart account will be alerted, and AHN will activate an online scheduling portal and phone-based scheduling system.
