The Community Day celebration in Richland Township was back this year with a variety of family fun after being scrubbed in 2020 because of the coronavirus.

The weather cooperated Aug. 14 for the 27th annual event, with temperatures in the 70s and mostly sunny skies.

This year’s event had to be slightly modified to keep children apart by moving the activities from the barn in the park’s upper level to a field in the lower portion of the park.

Activities for the kids included the return of Giggles the Clown as well as a professional face painter, colorful inflatables and a trackless train ride.

Children also got a chance to “touch a truck” at a display of public safety vehicles from the Northern Regional Police Department as well as fire, EMS and public works trucks.

Music was provided by the classic hits band Endeavor, and the park’s popular splash pad was open throughout the event, which was capped off with a fireworks display by Zambelli International.
