Allegheny County reported 73 new coronavirus cases, 36 new hospitalizations and no new deaths Wednesday.

The county’s case total grew to 11,431, according to the Allegheny County Health Department.

The state is reporting 341 deaths in Allegheny County, which differs from the county health department’s report of 363 deaths. The discrepancy has been attributed to different reporting methods.

According to the state’s covid-19 dashboard, there are currently 47 coronavirus patients hospitalized in the county with eight requiring ventilators. Just under 1% of all the county’s 819 ventilators are being used for hospitalized covid-19 patients.

All told since March, the county reports that 1,096 people have been hospitalized, with 278 admitted to the intensive care unit and 104 requiring mechanical ventilation.

Of the 73 cases, 64 are confirmed and nine are probable. The new cases range from 7 to 71 years old, with a median age of 28. The test dates range from Aug. 27 to Sept. 15, with all but three coming between Sept. 7-15.

The age groups of the newly reported cases — 38 male and 35 female — are:

  • 0-4: 0
  • 5-12: 3
  • 13-18: 6
  • 19-24: 22
  • 25-49: 28
  • 50-64: 13
  • 65+: 1

Older county residents have been hit the hardest, with 84% of the county’s deaths occurring in residents 70 or older:

  • 0-19: 0
  • 20-29: 1
  • 30-39: 1
  • 40-49: 2
  • 50-59: 15
  • 60-69: 39
  • 70+: 305
