Allegheny County adds 14 additional coronavirus cases, eclipses 10,000 total

Allegheny County passed a pandemic milestone on Wednesday when 14 new coronavirus cases put the total number of cases at 10,004.

The 14 new cases marked the lowest daily reported total since mid-June.

Of the cases, 9,694 are confirmed and 310 are considered probable. There were 1,151 new test results added in the past 24 hours. The 7-day case average sits in the low 60s, where it was in late June.

There were eight new deaths reported by the county to bring the total to 317 attributed to covid-19, according to the Allegheny County Health Department.

A total of 938 cases have required hospitalization in the county. There have been 7,040 estimated recoveries.

The new cases range in age from 6-98 years, according the health department, with a median age of 49. Thirteen are confirmed and one is probable. The new positive tests were collected from August 21-25.
