Allegheny County adds 37 new coronavirus cases, records 4th straight day with no covid deaths
Allegheny County on Tuesday reported 37 new coronavirus cases and no new deaths. This is the fourth day in a row that the county has not registered a death attributed to the coronavirus.
With no additional deaths announced, the total stands at 349, according to the county health department. There were no deaths reported over the weekend; last Friday there were five deaths reported.
The county’s total number of cases stands at 10,847 with 7,738 recoveries. According to the Allegheny County Health Department’s covid-19 dashboard 159,134 individuals have tested for the virus. The county has an overall 7% positive test result rate.
The 37 new cases — 35 confirmed and two probable — were out of 480 test results. This is also the fourth day the number of tests were under 1,000.
The new cases range in age from 17 to 95 years, with a median age of 36 years. The date of positive tests ranged from Sept. 1-6.
In September, the county has seen only one day of triple-digit cases (Thursday). There have been 471 cases this month. There were 2,187 cases in August and 5,224 cases in July.
The county added three hospitalizations on Tuesday. Since March 14, there have been 1,033 hospitalizations in the county, according to the county health department.
Pennsylvania’s covid-19 tracking website reports there are 64 residents of Allegheny County being treated for covid-19 in hospitals, with 12 of them on ventilators, as of Monday.
