Allegheny County reports 4 new covid-19 deaths, 77 new cases

Allegheny County reported 77 new covid-19 cases Tuesday.

The new cases, reported by the Allegheny County Health Department, bring the total number of cases to 12,854.

Four new deaths and 11 new hospitalizations were also reported, bringing the death total to 390 and total hospitalizations to 1,240 in Allegheny County.

The county’s new coronavirus-related deaths are all associated with long-term care facilities. Three individuals were in their 80s and one was in their 90s. Dates of death range from Sept. 30-Oct. 4.

In Allegheny County, there are currently 76 covid-19 patients hospitalized, with 11 of them on ventilators.

Tuesday’s new cases range in age from 11 to 90, with a median age of 39. New confirmed coronavirus cases, 72, come from 870 PCR tests administered from Sept. 13-Oct. 5, with the county noting a majority of new cases came from tests within the last week. Five of the 77 new cases are considered probable, with three of the probable cases coming from positive antigen tests.

The 20-29 age group continues to be the demographic with highest percentage (25%) of covid-19 cases in Allegheny County. That group is followed by those age 30-39 with 15% of cases and age 70+ with 14%.
