Allegheny County on Friday reported 78 new cases of covid-19, with 70 of those confirmed from 1,398 tests. Eight are listed as probable cases.
This brings the total cases in the county to 13,102 since tracking began in March, according to the county Health Department. Of the total cases, 12,484 were confirmed and 618 were recorded as probable.
Allegheny’s seven-day average is 82 cases, while the seven-day total of reported cases is 575, the highest since mid-August.
Of the new cases listed as probable, five are from positive antigen tests.
There were four new deaths attributed to covid-19, raising the county’s total to 397. One person was in their 60s, one in their 80s and two in their 90s, according to the Health Department. Two of the deaths were associated with long-term care facilities.
The county’s positivity rate is currently about 5.8%.
A total of 183,280 people have tested negative for the coronavirus.
The new cases fall into these age groups:
• Ages 0-12: 0
• Ages 13-18: 2
• Ages 19-24: 9
• Ages 25-49: 23
• Ages 50-64: 12
• Age 65 and older: 32
The county has reported a total of 1,281 hospitalizations for covid-19 since March 14.
