Allegheny County reports triple-digit new covid-19 cases for 2nd time this month

Allegheny County on Friday reported 100 new cases of coronavirus out of 1,134 tests.

The highest number of cases reported this month was 105 on Sept. 3, which was the only other day so far this month with 100 or more cases. The lowest reported number of new cases was 29 on Sept. 1.

Of the new cases, 98 are confirmed and two are probable. The tests were administered between Aug. 24 and Sept. 10.

Allegheny County’s total case count is 11,069 since March 14. There have been 1,053 hospitalizations, according to the county health department.

Two new deaths were reported Friday, bringing the county total to 360 related to covid-19. Both individuals were in their 80s and died Aug. 23 and 31.

As of Friday, there are 63 covid-19 patients currently hospitalized in Allegheny County, with 11 on ventilators.

The newly reported cases range in age from 4 months to 94 years and break down like this:

0-4 years old – 2 cases

5-12 years – 2 cases

13-18 years – 5 cases

19-24 years – 57 cases

25-49 years – 14 cases

50-64 years – 11 cases

65 and older – 9 cases
