The ramp from the 40th Street Bridge to northbound Route 28 in Millvale will be closed for at least 20 hours starting Thursday morning.

The closure is happening so a Pennsylvania Water and Sewer Authority contractor can install an inlet to divert water away from the off-ramp.

Work is scheduled for 7 a.m. Thursday through 3 a.m. Friday.

Off-duty police officers will be stationed at the 40th Street Bridge intersection and the 31st Street Bridge intersection to reroute traffic until work is completed.

Authorities said it’s part of the continued effort to address a 60-inch water main leak. The line broke Monday causing a closure of the 40th Street Bridge ramp onto Route 28.

Any customer who needs additional information should call PWSA emergency dispatch at 412-255-2423.
