A Baldwin road was closed Tuesday after a landslide made it impassable, according to the Allegheny County Department of Public Works.

Prospect Road is closed between Beryl Drive and Streets Run Road.

Crews were clearing debris from the road and anticipate to reopen one lane later in the week after a barrier is put in place, according to a news release. A traffic signal will be installed at the point where the road becomes one lane.

There is no time estimate for repairs.

Municipalities around Western Pennsylvania have been plagued for the past year with landslides as record-setting precipitation fell in 2018. So far, 2019 is on pace to match last year’s precipitation total.
