Another key official in outgoing Mayor Bill Peduto's administration announces departure
The director of Pittsburgh’s Office of Management and Budget plans to leave his role with the city in January, Mayor Bill Peduto announced Wednesday.
Kevin Pawlos is the latest official in the Peduto administration to announce their departure in advance of Mayor-elect Ed Gainey’s inauguration next week.
Pawlos began working for the city in August 2012 as a budget analyst in the Office of Management and Budget. He held roles including senior budget analyst, operating budget manager and assistant director of the operating budget before becoming the office’s director in September 2019.
“Kevin was a key member of our leadership team through a period of great economic uncertainty,” Peduto said. “Kevin’s leadership and strategic approach helped the city transition from exiting Act 47 to building a healthy $120 million rainy day fund to weathering the hit of covid without any layoffs to now implementing a balanced budget plan for the next five years using key investments from the American Rescue Plan.”
After leaving his position with the city, Pawlos plans to become the deputy director of finance for the Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority.
