At the library: News from Hampton Community Library
Hampton Community Library, 3200 Lochner Road, is open Mondays through Saturdays.
Its summer hours through Aug. 13 are 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Mondays and Fridays, 9:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, 11:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Wednesdays and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays.

Notice to patrons
The library will be closed Aug. 30-Sept. 1 for Labor Day.
There will be no children’s programs July 28-Aug. 2.
Bingo gatherings held at community center
The library hosts bingo get-togethers during the summer for all ages in the community.
The next bingo events will be from 1 to 3:30 p.m. July 31 and Aug. 7 and 14 in Great Room B at the Hampton Community Center.
Wear your lucky socks and join us for an afternoon of fun. There might even be prizes.
Come for an hour or stay all afternoon.
Don’t miss final summer labs for kids
Children ages 8 to 12 are invited to explore art and science from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Aug. 5 and 12 during Rainbow Lab Adventures.
A variety of STEAM projects will be completed. Things might get messy so dress appropriately.
Registration is appreciated.
The program is held outdoors at the Rotary Pavilion, between the municipal building and the playground.
In case of stormy weather, call the library to see whether the program will be moved indoors or canceled.
Ancestry workshop open to adults
Professional genealogist Trish Buben of Stonycreek Genealogy will be on hand at 6:30 p.m. July 30 to share her knowledge with adults looking to research their family history with Ancestry.
Attendees will learn how to find their family’s stories hidden in searchable online records.
Topics will include beginning a family tree on Ancestry, search tips and more.

Summer Reading Program winding down
It’s not too late to join the library’s Summer Reading Program, which runs through Aug. 9.
This year’s theme is Color Your World, and all ages are encouraged to participate.
Children 12 and younger receive a swag bag upon registration. When they return each week, they earn raffle tickets for a chance to win one of the library’s prizes.
Teens and adults 13 and older also are invited to read, visit the library and get raffle tickets for chances to win prizes.
Experience Kits showcase historic sites, museums
The library offers a variety of Experience Kits.
The kits give two adults and up to six children the opportunity to visit eight historic sites and museums for free:
• Heinz History Center in Pittsburgh’s Strip District, including the Fort Pitt Museum in Point State Park and Meadowcroft Rock Shelter & Historic Village in Avella
• Bushy Run Battlefield, Jeannette
• Depreciation Lands Museum, Hampton
• Gibson House Manor, aka Mark Twain Manor, Jamestown
• Historic Fort Steuben, Steubenville, Ohio
• Captain William Vicary Mansion, Freedom
• Duncan & Miller Glass Museum, Washington, Pa.
• Harmony Museum, Harmony
Each pass can be checked out for up to one week at a time. Plus, each pass comes with virtual access to educational information, itinerary ideas and other fun content.
