Hampton Community Library, 3200 Lochner Way, is open Mondays through Saturdays.

Its September through May hours are 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Mondays and Fridays, 9:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays.

Notice to patrons

The library will be closed from Dec. 24-27 for the Christmas break and Dec. 31 and Jan.1 for the new year.

There library will have earlier closing times on a few days in December: 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 16; 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 20; 5 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 23; and 5 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 30.

Regular hours will resume on Friday, Jan. 2.

Mrs. Claus stopping by for story times

Special story times featuring a visit with Mrs. Claus and friends is planned from 11 a.m. to noon Dec. 16 and 18 in the children’s area of the library.

There will be stories, songs, fingerplays and a special craft for children from birth to age 5, along with a caregiver.

The event is free, but registration is appreciated to account for supplies.

Children invited to dress up for KPop watch party

Children ages 6 to 11 are invited to ring in the new year KPop-style.

Hampton Community Library is hosting its first-ever KPop watch party from 6 to 8 p.m. Jan. 2.

Participants will seal the Honmoon by singing, dancing and watching the movie “KPop Demon Hunters.” The 2025 animated musical fantasy is rated PG.

The movie follows a K-pop girl group, known as HUNTR/X, whose members lead double lives as demon hunters. They end up facing off against a rival boy band, known as the Saja Boys, whose members are secretly demons.

Everyone is encouraged to dress as their favorite character — fan or demon.

There is a $2 registration fee per child.

Kits showcase historic sites, museums

Thanks to a partnership with the Heinz Center Affiliates Program, Allegheny County libraries are offering free admission for two adults and six children to a number of museums and historical sites throughout the Pittsburgh region.

Each pass can be checked out for up to one week at a time. Plus, each pass comes with virtual access to educational information, itinerary ideas and other fun content.
