A Butler County man wanted on 11 warrants — including aggravated assault charges in North Braddock and receiving stolen property and firearms charges in Pleasant Hills — has been arrested, Allegheny County Sheriff Kevin M. Kraus announced Thursday.

Authorities arrested James A. Carroll III, 23, of West Sunbury, near a van in which he was living, parked in North Braddock, Kraus said. Carroll also was being sought on an Allegheny County probation violation warrant.

Sheriff’s detectives received a tip that Carroll was living in the van parked on Evans Way and that he had relatives living a block away on Wolfe Avenue, Kraus said.

Detectives and police from North Braddock and Whitaker found the van empty Thursday morning, but spotted Carroll running out of a nearby home, Kraus said. After a short pursuit, Sheriff’s Deputy Eric Quatman and K9 Woody stopped Carroll, who was arrested without further incident.

Carroll was taken to Allegheny County Jail and he is awaiting arraignment, Kraus said.

Carroll faces six felony charges related to the aggravated assault Sunday in North Braddock, court records show. He also faces 12 charges, two of them felonies, related to a June 23 event in Pleasant Hills.
