The Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office on Friday identified the woman killed this week in a three-car crash in Pittsburgh’s North Hills as Patricia Everetts, 76, of Butler.
The accident occurred when a motorist driving south Thursday on Route 8, also known as William Flynn Highway, stopped to turn left onto Applewood Drive around 5:15 p.m. Thursday in Richland, Northern Regional police Chief John Sicilia told TribLive news partner WTAE.
A motorist in a second vehicle rear-ended the first, sending it into oncoming traffic, Sicilia said. That first vehicle then hit Everetts’ car head-on.
Everetts was pronounced dead at 6:42 p.m., the medical examiner’s office said. A cause and manner of death were not released.
Two people were taken to the hospital from the scene, TribLive news partner WTAE reported.
Northern Regional police weren’t immediately available Friday to share details on the second victim’s condition.
