The Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s office has identified the person who died in a Nov. 28 house fire in Ben Avon.

The office said Matthew Thompson, 46, was found dead inside the house.

The Emsworth Volunteer Fire Department, which serves the small borough along the Ohio River, was dispatched to the scene of the blaze on the 6800 block of Perrysville Avenue just before midnight, according to a social media post from the department.

The fire persisted for hours, and crews remained on scene until about 6 a.m. Saturday, the post said.

Allegheny County homicide detectives assisted the county’s Fire Marshal’s Office in the investigation, TribLive previously reported.
