Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Pittsburgh is honoring Bethel Park resident Vince Russo as one of its Bigs and Littles of the Year for 2025.
The mentoring relationship between Russo and his Little, Damion, showcases the profound impact that mentorship can have, inspiring growth, resilience and the pursuit of brighter futures.
Russo and Damion’s story is one of hope and transformation. Paired during the height of the covid-19 pandemic, their bond was formed when Damion, who lacked a father figure in his life, needed someone to show him that he could dream big. Russo, with unwavering support, encouraged Damion to aim higher, challenge himself and believe in limitless possibilities. Today, Damion is focused on achieving higher grades and pursuing a college education in computer engineering.
“It’s been a life-changing experience,” said Russo, 2025 Big of the Year. “Damion has pushed me to be a better listener for everyone in my life, and his resilience has motivated me tremendously both personally and professionally. I’m incredibly proud of how far he has come.”
Russo and Damion’s journey together serves as a reminder that mentoring is a two-way street. While Russo has helped Damion shape his future, Damion’s determination has made a lasting impression on Russo.
