Game Day

Members of the Ruthfred Acres Woman’s Club have many philanthropic endeavors within the club as internal monthly fundraisers. Some are competitive, some are social and some are just for fun. Game Day is one activity that is just for socializing and fun.

This year, Game Day players have been meeting at Arby’s in Bethel Park on the fourth Monday of the month at 11:30 a.m.

Joan Morton, a long-time member of the RAWC, chairs and has been hosting Game Day for many years. Members and guests meet, and for a $2 charitable contribution to the club, have an afternoon of food, cards and laughter. The games are easy and family-friendly.

We arrive at Arby’s for lunch at 11:30 a.m., place our orders and have lunch together. Then we start our friendly card games. You may join us even if you are not a member.

Arby’s is located at 3205 Library Road in Bethel Park.

Association of University People

The Association of University People invites singles 50 and over who are four-year college graduates to join them for activities and to meet new people. Activities include spring/summer picnics, monthly dinners, a book group, Scrabble, meeting up at local outside concerts and wineries.

Those interested can attend three activities as guests before joining. To obtain more information about AUP or become an AUP member, call and leave a message at 412-353-9088 or email Aupsingles@gmail.com.

Bethel Park Farmers Market

The Bethel Park Farmers’ Market runs Tuesdays through Oct. 14 for an extended season in South Park, directly off Corrigan Drive near the ice skating rink.

Guests can look forward to an improved layout to allow for food trucks to be in a separate section along with periodic kids’ activities, entertainment, recipes posted on the farmers’ market website inspired by ingredients from each week’s vendors and more.

St. Clair Hospital will be at the market weekly July through September, offering complimentary health screenings, providing information and sponsoring the “Food Assistance Match” program, a nonprofit organization dedicated to increasing access to fresh, nutritious food from local farmers and small businesses to individuals and families most in need.

This year, the market is being led by events coordinator Sarah Komatsu .

Komatsu will be managing the Bethel Park Farmers’ Market, ‘No Cook Tuesdays,’ and Indoor Markets while also providing support for various municipal special events.

New vendors include Amazing Books and Records (a used book and records store), Chocolate Moonshine (chocolates, fudge and truffle bars), and Billy’s Country Smoke House (offering smoked meats, preserved meat sticks and homemade sausages).
