A bicylist who was injured after being struck by a school bus in the North Hills has been upgraded to stable condition at an area hospital, police said.
The 29-year-old man, who police did not name, was riding southbound on Route 8 in Richland around midnight Tuesday when he was struck by the bus, Northern Regional Police Chief John Sicilia told the Tribune-Review.
The man was taken to an area hospital in critical condition, Sicilia said. As of Wednesday morning, the man’s condition had improved and he was being taken care of in an intensive care unit.
The cyclist was wearing dark clothing and was not using any lighting, Sicilia said. The bus driver was merging from the right-hand lane to the left lane when he hit the cyclist.
No charges have been filed against the driver, who police also did not name.
“There’s nothing indicating there will be charges but the investigation is still ongoing,” Sicilia said.
