A three-story house fire in Pittsburgh’s Bloomfield neighborhood went from two to four alarms Saturday, according to Pittsburgh Public Safety.

The fire, in the 4000 block of Penn Avenue, was reported around 1:45 p.m., according to Allegheny County 911.

According to Pittsburgh Public Safety, one side of the structure was a short-term rental property. It was being rented at the time, but all of the guests were out of the house when firefighters arrived.

The other side was home to five adults and two young children, who got out safely.

No firefighters were hurt and no one was taken to a hospital.

Bystander video showed thick black and gray smoke billowing from the building, and flames on the roof.

The American Red Cross of Greater Pennsylvania was called to help with temporary accommodations and other needs. The Salvation Army was also on-site.

People were advised to stay away from the area or use caution because of icy conditions from the water used to fight the fire in the below-freezing weather.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
