15-year-old boy killed in Homewood shooting

A 15-year-old boy died after being shot in the head early Wednesday evening in the Pittsburgh’s Homewood neighborhood, according to police and the Allegheny County Medical Examiner.

Police found Dayvon Vickers of Pittsburgh injured when they responded to a call after four gunshots were fired shortly after 6 p.m. in the 800 block of North Homewood Avenue.

He was transported to UPMC Presbyterian in critical condition, police said. Vickers was pronounced dead just before 10 p.m., according to the medical examiner.

Pittsburgh’s Violent Crime Unit detectives are investigating.
