A Braddock man was arrested Friday evening after police said they witnessed him stealing a car on Pittsburgh’s North Side.

Aaron Morris, 20 of Braddock, faced multiple felonies including robbery of a motor vehicle, receiving stolen property, and aggravated assault, according to court documents.

Pittsburgh police said they saw Morris steal a vehicle from a woman in the area of Middle and East Ohio streets on Friday around 5:20 p.m.

Police then pursued Morris by car north on Interstate 279 before heading back into the city into Oakland and down to the Strip District. Police said they then stopped the pursuit in the Strip District due to the large number of pedestrians and heavy traffic.

When Morris then drove through Downtown and back over to the North Side, police said he was taken into custody at the corner of East North and Middle Street after the vehicle was remotely disabled by OnStar.

Police said Morris told them he was under the influence of narcotics at the time of his arrest.

Morris was detained in the Allegheny County Jail and was denied bail.
