People traveling on the Parkway East to Kennywood Park will soon be able to use the Swissvale exit again to cross the Kenmawr Bridge to get to the park.

Since the bridge closed May 17, traffic had been re-routed through Homestead.

The bridge is set to reopen at 7 p.m. Thursday, PennDOT said.

The short span over railroad tracks between Woodstock Avenue in Swissvale and 6th Avenue in Rankin was replaced in a $12.5 million project that started in 2020.

Some lane daytime lane restrictions will remain as sidewalk and other work continues.
