Bridgeville, Carnegie area student news for the week of July 16
Olivia Cindrich of Carnegie was one of eight Lebanon Valley College student-athletes to be named to the 2019-20 Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Winter Sportsmanship Teams. Cindrich, a graduate of Carlynton Jr-Sr High School, is pursuing a bachelor of science in exercise science and is a member of the women’s ice hockey team.
One student-athlete in each winter sport was nominated by their coach for inclusion on the team, which recognizes student-athletes who exemplify great character and demonstrate the act of sportsmanship both on and off the field of play.

Sophia Blake and Emily Maloney, both of Oakdale, achieved the dean’s list at Belmont University for the spring semester.
Carnegie resident Payton Ferris achieved Dean’s High Honors at Connecticut College for the spring semester. Ferris is a film studies major.

Marissa Stakeley of Oakdale, and Nova David and Alyson Finnerty, both of Bridgeville, were named to the Chatham University Falk School of Sustainability & Environment dean’s list for the spring term.

Alice Kenawell of Bridgeville recently graduated cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in industrial design from Iowa State University

Sydney Lerda of Bridgeville recently graduated from Denison University with a bachelor’s degree in economics and Spanish.

Zach Davies of Presto was named to the University of Rhode Island spring dean’s list.

Margo Mason of Carnegie recently graduated from Westminster College in New Wilmington with a bachelor’s degree in neuroscience.

Mateo Vandamia of Oakdale was named to the University of Delaware dean’s list for the spring semester.

Emilia Hyland of Bridgeville was named to Furman University’s dean’s list for the spring semester.

Jordan Smith of South Fayette Township recently graduated from La Roche University with a bachelor’s degree in marketing and management with a minor in finance. At La Roche, he was the sports editor for the school newspaper and was on the executive board of the Marketing and Finance clubs. As the pandemic began, he had been completing a media relations internship with the Pittsburgh Penguins. He recently became a contributing writer to www.pittsburghsoccernow.com and in September will pursue his dual masters in business administration and communication at Point Park University.
