Bridgeville in need of 'Snow Angels'
If you can lend a hand — or a shovel — to help clear snow this winter, Bridgeville would like your help.
The borough is seeking volunteers to become a “Snow Angel” where they will be paired with a nearby resident in need of snow removal.
Bridgeville has had the program for years. Borough officials said there has been an overwhelming number of requests from senior citizens and neighbors with special needs who need help clearing snow, and the list of volunteers isn’t keeping up.
Volunteers are paired with another resident that’s usually within a 10-minute walk from their home. Volunteers willing to help more than one neighbor should let the borough know when they sign up.
Snow and ice can make getting around dangerous for many older or mobility-limited people. When driveways and sidewalks are snow-covered, everyone is at risk, including postal carriers, emergency responders and trash collectors.
To volunteer, contact Cheryl at 412-221-6012, ext. 112.
