Heroic efforts were recognized at the April 12 Bridgeville council meeting.

On March 20, Bridgeville residents Stephen Hines and Zach Adams, who are stepfather and stepson, rescued their neighbor from his burning home. The pair were doing renovations on their pizza shop, Country Style Bakery & Pizza, when they noticed smoke and fire coming from next door. They entered the home and rescued their neighbor from a second-floor bedroom.

At the council meeting, Mayor Betty Copeland issued a proclamation that April 13, 2021, was Stephen Hines and Zach Adams day in the borough.

Members of council, Mayor Copeland and Bridgeville Fire Chief Raymond Costain presented the pair with a life-saving award as well.
