Bridgeville officials hope to be able to pave Sarah Street and a portion of Missouri Avenue this summer.
Council on Feb. 9 authorized its engineer to prepare specifications and bid its road paving program that will include Sarah Street and Missouri Avenue as the base bid.
Alternate bids include Charlet Street and half of Lurry Street, from the midblock hill to the terminus.
“Roads were selected using the borough’s road rating table,” said Manager Joe Kauer.
The borough coordinated with utility companies in an attempt to avoid conflicts.
The final determination of streets to be paved is subject to change, depending on bids received and funds available.
Bridgeville budgeted $305,000 for paving this year, Kauer said.
The bid date has yet to be determined, but is expected to take place before Council’s April 13 meeting, Kauer said.
The borough anticipates awarding a bid April 13.
Other business
Also at the Feb. 9 meeting, council:
• Submitted a grant application to the state’s Department of Conservation and Natural Resources for the Chartiers Park Field Lighting project;
• Scheduled the annual Bridgeville Day on the Avenue event for June 20;
• Purchased a story-walk trailhead arch sign for Chartiers Park from G&S Signs at $9,470 or less. The Bridgeville Rotary Club will reimburse the borough for the purchase. It will be installed by the borough’s public works department.
