After starting the school year fully remote, students in Carlynton School District’s elementary schools have gone back to in-person classes four days a week. Oct. 29 was the first day for the new schedule.
At Crafton Elementary, kindergarten through third-grade students were welcomed with a few surprises on their first day back – balloons, the Cougar mascot and more.
“We had a great first day with our students,” said superintendent Dr. John Kreider. “The students bring refreshing energy and enthusiasm to the schoolhouse. We look forward to seeing more of our students in the next few days and are appreciative of the support we received from our community.”
Students at the district’s two elementary schools – Crafton and Carnegie – will attend school in-person every day except Wednesdays.
Students in grades 4-12 at the junior-senior high school will begin reporting for in-person instruction Nov. 5. they will attend Tuesdays and Thursdays only.
A remote option is still available, and the district plans to add additional days to the schedule if schools remain covid-free.
According to the district’s reopening plan, parents will be asked to conduct health screenings at home and students will have their temperature taken upon entry to the schools. Masks are required at all times.
