Carlynton School District to open time capsule as part of 50th anniversary celebration
Carlynton School District is making plans to celebrate its 50th anniversary and will cap off the celebration with the opening of a sealed time capsule. The capsule, hidden behind brick and mortar in a corner section of the Carlynton Junior-Senior High School facade, will be opened and its contents revealed in a formal ceremony on May 14.
Carlynton High School senior class officers of the Class of 2021 are spearheading the celebration and the opening of the time capsule. Class president Natali Lutsiv, vice president Rodrigo Corral and secretary Gina Ulizzi wish to honor and recognize members of Carlynton’s first graduating class, the Class of 1971.
The building was erected in 1969 and completed in early 1970, according to district spokesperson Michale Herrmann.
“Prior to the opening of Carlynton High School, students graduated from individual high schools in Carnegie and Crafton – the schools are now our Carnegie and Crafton elementary schools,” Herrmann said.
The 2021 class officers will also welcome and appreciate input from all Carlynton alumni and former teachers in hopes of collecting memorabilia and stories about favorite high school memories.
Any Carlynton School District alumni or former teachers who like to learn more about the upcoming celebration or has a favorite memory or memorabilia to share are asked to email district spokesperson Michale Herrmann at michale.herrmann@carlynton.k12.pa.us.
