The Better Business Bureau of Western Pennsylvania, based in Carnegie, has a new leader.
Kate Sullivan became the BBB’s president and chief executive officer Jan. 1, succeeding Warren King. King stepped down after 40 years with the BBB.
The Better Business Bureau is a nonprofit that helps people find trustworthy businesses by providing business profiles, customer reviews and ratings based on ethical practices.
“It is an honor to join an organization with such a strong legacy of trust, service and ethical leadership,” Sullivan said. “The Better Business Bureau plays a vital role in building confidence between businesses and consumers, and I am thrilled to lead this mission forward in partnership with our dedicated board, staff and accredited businesses across Western Pennsylvania.”
Sullivan spent the last 16 years working in marketing and advertising agencies, most recently as senior vice president at Marbury Group for 11 years, and before that, the Greater Pittsburgh YMCA for four years.
The BBB’s Board of Directors said in a statement that Sullivan brings relevant experience and a strong commitment to the BBB’s core values. The board is confident Sullivan will guide the BBB into its next era of service and innovation, it said.
“Kate brings the rare combination of strategic foresight, operational discipline and a deep commitment to community trust,” said Jeff Moeslein, 2025 Board Chair of BBB of Western Pennsylvania.
“We are confident her leadership will further BBB’s mission of advancing integrity and accountability in our marketplace.”
