Carnegie Swings, Carnegie Free Library & Music Hall’s event to showcase the facility while raising funds to support its mission, services and programming, returns Sept. 28.

Doors open at 7 p.m. with the concert at 7:30 p.m.

Musical director, arranger and trombonist Reggie Watkins created a show of music styles from across the spectrum of jazz and popular songs.

Watkins is a Carnegie resident who has toured with artists including famed trumpet player Maynard Ferguson and pop music star Jason Mraz. He currently tours with the popular Scott Bradlee’s Postmodern Jukebox.

Pittsburgh’s Boilermaker Jazz Band, led by Paul Cosentino on clarinet, will perform with New York tap dancer — and Fulbright Scholar — Alex MacDonald. Lisa Gary will lend her voice to the show.

An after-theater supper follows the performance, as will a dance party in the Studio. Dancers will offer micro lessons to get started. Dress up or dress comfortably.

Tickets, a portion of which are tax deductible, are $75 or $125 and are available at www.carnegiecarnegie.org or by calling 412-276-3456, ext. 8.

All support of Carnegie Swings, including sponsorship, tickets and donations, will be matched by September’s Love Your Library campaign.
