Chartiers Valley School District welcomed students back for the 2021-2022 school year on Aug. 23.

“As I greeted students at arrival and walked through the school buildings, I felt proud and encouraged by everyone’s commitment to the health and safety of our students and staff,” said superintendent Johannah Vanatta. “It was great to see students and teachers learning and reconnecting.”

The district’s health and safety plan, which was approved in June, calls for students to be in schools five days a week with a remote learning option via the Chartiers Valley Cyber Academy and masks optional.

The district said that changes to the health and safety plan will be made as necessary, based on changing guidelines, mandates and requirements.
