Chartiers Valley student news for the week of Jan. 25, 2022

Abby Gramm, Ashley Slifko, Pamela Scalise, and Staci Plascjak graduated from Ohio University in the summer 2021 semester with a bachelor of science degree in nursing. Also in the summer of 2021, Ohio University graduates included Jaycie Adamski with a master of arts in speech language pathology, and Casey Smith and Allison Evans with a master of business administration.

Erik Tagg, a graduate of Chartiers Valley High School majoring in accounting at Baldwin Wallis University, earned a $15,000 Fellows’ Scholarship.

Delilah Hartlage, a graduate of Lincoln Park Performing Arts Charter School majoring in theatre acting and directing at Baldwin Wallace University, earned a $17,000 Deans’ Scholarship.

As part of a program funded by Slippery Rock University’s Office for Community-Engaged Learning called “Rediscovering Your Story,” faculty and students in a Writing Community Stories class have partnered with the Institute for Nonprofit Leadership at SRU and the Butler County Drug and Alcohol Program.

Melina Bowser, a junior English writing major, was one of five students in the class who traveled to Butler SUCCEED for five consecutive Wednesday evenings for the workshop, conducting group activities and one-on-one interviews.

“I didn’t know what to expect coming into this class, but I think I’ve gotten more out of it than I could’ve ever imagined,” Bowser said. “Getting to hear these stories directly from the people who experienced them was so extraordinary and heartrending. They trusted us, complete strangers, with the stories of their lowest lows, but we then got to hear about their recoveries and how they’ve overcome obstacles and turned their lives around to be the healthiest and happiest version of themselves.”

Marc Reyes was named to the Dean’s List at the University of Maryland Global Campus for the fall 2021 semester.

Brooke Wilhelm was named to the Dean’s List at Bloomsburg University for the fall 2021 semester.

Ryan Wohlfarth graduated from Georgia Southwestern State University during the Fall 2021 Commencement Ceremonies held in December. He earned a master’s degree in business administration.

Emmalee Faiello, Abbigayle Day, Connor Miller, Timothy Giger, Toby Trotta, Samantha Shimko, Ashley Giger and Emily Malay were named to the Dean’s List at Edinboro University for the fall 2021 semester.

Olivia Cindrich, who is majoring in exercise science at Lebanon Valley College, was named to the Dean’s List for the fall 2021 semester.

Kayla Garbera has been named to Sherman College of Chiropractic’s Dean’s List for the fall 2021 semester.

Logan Marnik, Bethany Edwards, Alexis Yates and Makenzie Snarey were named to the Dean’s List at Westminster College for the fall 2021 semester.

Mary Wihlborg and Sara Throckmorton were named to the President’s List at Southern New Hampshire University for the fall 2021 semester.

Richie Bochicchio, Mickey Clary, Hunter Crow, Troy Donofrio, Anthony Tambellini, Zach Trusky, and Ella Wrabley were named to the Dean’s List for the fall 2021 semester at Grove City College.

Kaleb Krebs has been named to the Dean’s List at the University of Mount Union for the fall 2021 semester.
