College honors and accolades for Carnegie area students for the week of April 3, 2021

Daniel Kratovil was among the student organizers of Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine’s annual Freedom Seder.

Organized Freedom Seder

Daniel Kratovil, a member of Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine’s MD Class of 2023, was among the student organizers of the school’s annual Freedom Seder, held on March 23. Freedom Seders intertwine the archetypal story of the Israelites’ deliverance from slavery in ancient Egypt with more modern liberation struggles.

Kratovil is a member of GCSOM’s Jewish Medical Student Association.

Dean’s list

The following students from the area were recognized for their academic achievement during the fall 2020 semester by being named to the dean’s, president’s or provost’s list at the college or university they attend:

• Emerson College: Chloe Williams

• Gettysburg College: Abigail Minzer

• Lehigh University: Madeline Dorish

Honor Society

Julianne Jarek, a student at Elon University in North Carolina, was recently initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest and most selective all-discipline collegiate honor society.
