The longest day of the year – June 21 – was well-spent by residents at Concordia of Bridgeville.
The senior living community raised $413 for the Alzheimer’s Association during its “The Longest Day” car wash and bake sale event, held at the Concordia campus, 3570 Washington Pike.
The event is part of the Alzheimer’s Association’s “The Longest Day” campaign, which raises funds to support care, research and advocacy for people affected by Alzheimer’s disease.
“When we talk to our residents during ‘The Longest Day,’ many share that they participate in our Alzheimer’s fundraisers because someone close to them — a spouse or loved one — has suffered from Alzheimer’s or dementia,” said Morgan Kopacko, activities director at Concordia of Bridgeville.
“They’ve seen firsthand the toll it takes not only on the individual, but also on the family. That deep personal connection makes the cause especially meaningful and close to their hearts.”
Five people volunteered for this year’s event. Concordia of Bridgeville has participated in “The Longest Day” for the past 15 years.
