Maximum security measures will be taken at Carnegie Elementary School during the next few days in the wake of a threat.

Principal Lauren Baughman notified parents Wednesday that she received an emailed threat Wednesday morning indicating something would take place Friday. The school was placed on lockdown and police departments from Carnegie, Scott, Collier, Crafton and the Allegheny County Sheriff’s department were onsite within minutes and swept the school.

According to the letter sent to parents, “Law enforcement immediately apprehended the email sender and determined there was no viable threat to the school,” Baughman said.

In the next few days, Baughman said there will be an increased police presence with continuous sweeps of the building. No further information was immediately available
